Chassis:
Cases are made from black heavy duty steel.
See chassis reference page
and additional special order chassis.
General rackmount chassis measurements are:
1u-chassis: standard 19inch (482.6mm) width, varying dimensions in depth, and 1.75inch (44.5mm) height.
2u-chassis: 3.5 inch (88.9 mm) height

Rails and Brackets:
eRacks offers sliding and friction rails, as well as center mount and rear mount brackets.
Servers may be attached without rails or brackets, using only the front ears. Add rails if
the server is especially heavy or the rack is not sturdy enough, or if the sliding
functionality is desired.
Note: Rails on the BAY chassis may limit ventilation.
It is preferable to attach the BAY chassis to the rack using the front ears .
Additional rack components may be found
here.

regarding custom installations.

Operating System:
eRacks makes every effort to ensure that your configuration choices
will be compatible with each other, and the vast majority of the
combinations above, especially the most popular ones, will be supported.
Due to the sheer number of combinations, we cannot test or
guarantee that every possible combination of choices will
function without some manual configuration. If your configuration,
while in testing, is determined to require significant additional work
to configure, or cannot be made to work with your other choices, we will
contact you to notify you of the situation and allow you to (a) make
another choice, (b) have us continue to work on configuring it on a
consulting basis (we will estimate the time it will take), or (c) allow
you to accept the system as-is and configure it yourself.
Note: 64-bit OS support is not as widespread or nearly as well-qualified and tested as 32-bit OSes,
but we will certainly make our best efforts to install the 64bit OS of your choosing. We will
certainly contact you with any issues or incompatibilities
between your hardware and OS choices, and make our expert
recommmendations on the best course of action.
For eRacks/WEB servers, eRacks recommends the
FreeBSD operating system,
since it has the best benchmarks.
eRacks recommends the OpenBSD
operating system for all
firewall systems
,
because OpenBSD
is fully audited for security and maintained from the ground up with security as the primary concern.
Although Linux can be hardened by
security experts,
OpenBSD is our recommendation for firewalls, routers, DNS servers, and other servers
exposed on the open internet.
Note: eRacks does offer a hardened version of Linux, for those who require Linux.
Email eRacks for details.
Note: eRacks will install, configure, and test your system with your choice of operating system. Any configuration issues, hardware incompatibilities, or other issues as the result of the customer's
installation or re-installation of an operating system are not covered by the warranty.
Machines ordered with no operating system specified will be tested with a generic Linux install and any issues
arising as a result of the customer's operating system installation are the customer's responsibility.
