eRacks Introduces an Energy-Saving Quad-Core Xeon 5000 Rackmount Server, the eRacks/NSERVE
eRacks Open Source Systems announces a quad-core Xeon 5500 series rackmount server, the eRacks/NSERVE, a 2U computer system with dramatic energy efficiency and uncompromising performance.

Orange, CA (PRWEB) June 1, 2009 -- eRacks Open Source Systems is now offering a new powerful and energy-saving server, utilizing Intel's newest Xeon 5500 series microprocessor. The eRacks/NSERVE is unprecedented in its energy-efficiency. It is an ideal choice for use in biometrics, telemetry, video and audio encoding, virtualization, as part of a private cloud, or any high level computational application.

The new Xeon processor series, codenamed Nehalem, utilizes Intel's Turbo Boost technology to intelligently clock the cores up if needed and if the temperature allows. Energy use is scaled to the workload by enabling individual cores to reduce to near-zero power under lighter use. The eRacks/NSERVE has a comparably reduced server power consumption, and will also lower the cooling cost of the data center.

The eRacks/NSERVE rackmount server supports DDR3 memory up to 1333MHz, has three hot-swap SATA2 drives, and uses 4 middle fans for effective cooling. All eRacks systems are configured with the customer's choice of operating system, including a wide choice of Linux flavors, OpenBSD, and FreeBSD.

eRacks has specialized in providing customized open source rackmount servers, desktop computers, and laptops since 1999.
