Apr 30, 2016 - eRacks Systems releases FLASH24 - All-SSD NVMe/SATA Storage Server With 90+TB Raw Storage, Next-gen DP Xeon
HAYWARD, CA - eRacks today announces the immediate availability of the eRacks/FLASH24 high-performance SSD Storage server, with next-generation Dual-Xeon technology that offers numerous new features and advantages over previous generations, and enables the highest levels of performance, efficiency, security and scalability in the industry.
This 2U rackmount server has been designed to attain the highest level of performance-per-watt, to maximize TCO without any performance sacrifice. The eRacks/FLASH24 server offers up to 24x NVMe/SAS/SATA hot-swap 2.5" drives, plus 2x 2.5” drives in the back for the OS.
This eRacks NVMe / SATA server has been specifically designed for clients and enterprises that choose to use SSD technology, in a bid to reduce latency and offer faster CPU data transfer and overall storage device performance.
Configurable with up to 3TB (three terabytes) of memory, this unit is a truly world-class storage server, perfect for FreeNAS, ZFS, BTRFS, or other memory-intensive file system and SDS (Software-Defined Storage) usage, such as Ceph or OpenStack Swift.
When configured with the new 3.84TB Samsung SATA SSDs, it has 90+Terabytes of raw storage capacity. With the available 3.2TB NVMe Drives (HGST or Samsung), it has 75+TB of raw storage capacity, with sustained transfer rates several times that of SATA, due to the new PCIe-based NVMe technology.
eRacks/FLASH24 with NVMe is optimized for many I/O intensive enterprise applications such as: advanced data mining, Big Data / Cassandra / Hadoop; Network Attached Storage (NAS) such as FreeNAS; SDS (Software-Defined Storage) such as Ceph; FinTech / financial transactions, and other online transaction processing (OLTP) applications, that were previously just not possible to achieve with standard SAS and SATA SSD storage.
Utilizing the high bandwidth and low latency of NVMe SSDs, this newest member of the eRacks/FLASH line of storage servers significantly improves the performance and storage efficiency of these applications.
As always, eRacks/FLASH servers come pre-configured with the latest & greatest Open Source software of your choice - in addition to the OS (Ubuntu by default), you can choose OpenStack, Ceph, or any of the open source storage or Big Data software out there, or write in what you want, in the "Notes" field when you place your order or request a quote.
“In keeping with the industry trend towards all-SSD servers, eRacks is proud to be at the forefront with a new model, and a growing range that can do NVMe, SAS, or SATA, is 'green', has low-TCO, and is at the cutting-ege of petascale capacities” says founder and CTO Joseph Wolff.
