eRacks/NAS16
eRacks/NAS16 is a mid-size, yet high-capacity network storage server with great pricing as well as power, capacity, and redundancy features that make it a top-of-the-line solution. The 3U rackmount unit holds 16 hot-swap 3.5" drive bays, as well 2x SSD 2.5" mirrored hot-swap drives for the OS, in the rear.
With the latest 18-Terabyte major-brand hard drives from our partners at WD / HGST and Seagate, the eRacks/NAS16 is a truly powerful storage server with up to 288 Terabytes of networked raw storage space to offer.
As with all eRacks Systems products, the server will come with customers’ choice of open source operating system and software, pre-configured and ready-to-use. eRacks/NAS16 is a great cloud storage solution. Low power usage by HGST drive units, now in use, makes this model a true green and eco-friendly solution.

Green
The latest major-brand drives from HGST, WD, and Seagate, are enterprise-class, high-reliability, helium-filled "Green" drives, which use less power while providing more data storage space. Choosing these drives make eRacks/NAS16 a truly a greener solution.
Archival
Archive-purposed SMR (Shingled Magnetic Recording) drives are for archival applications which have a typical usage profile of writing mostly new data (or journal-style data "At the end"), rather than re-writing existing data - hence the choice of these drives is more well-suited for Archival applications, or Near-Line Storage or Cold Storage.
Pre-configured
As always, the unit comes pre-installed with your choice of open source operating system and software, and pre-configured to your needs and instructions - simply put any special provisioning or partition requests in the "notes" field when you place your order or request a quote.
Cloud-Ready
For virtualization, we can install OpenStack, CloudStack, our own lightweight eVirt™ virtualization, or your choice.
Scale-out
For network storage / SDS (Software-defined-storage), we can install Ceph, DRBD, Samba, DLNA, NFS, AFP, etc. - you name it, we'll install it for you.
